2014 – what a year. I started an amazing job, moved out of my family’s home and in with my boyfriend, finally got a DSLR camera and took my blog photographs to a new level. Moving into my own place and being immersed in nutrition and the culinary arts at work has also changed the way I eat. I now cook way less meat and way more plants, which is reflected in the recipes I’ve been posting and the general tone of my blog. I also introduced some new series on Chez Sasha, including Cocktail Hour, Favorite Foodies, and Even Better With an Egg, which I am totally excited . . .
I remember the first time we ever talked about it. It was when I was visiting Rene up at school in Pennsylvania, back in 2012. We had only been dating for a few months but somehow brought up the idea of moving in together. At first we laughed at it, but within minutes both realized it was actually a great idea and we should really do it. Fast forward to now and alas, our wish is coming true. We have signed our first lease together. This is such a huge step that I don't even know how to begin talking about it. On the one hand, I'm jumping-out-of-my-shoes excited to . . .
I'm not usually one to brag but I have been up to some new and cool things lately and it's time to tell you all about them. First of all, I started a new job about a month ago and it's amazing. It's so amazing, in fact, that I'm still not used to the idea of how cool it actually is. The job is at a culinary school called Natural Gourmet Institute. Started by the famed Dr. Annemarie Colbin in the seventies, its focus is health-supportive cooking and it is one of the only institutions of its kind. The school offers both an accredited chef's training program and . . .
If you are reading this, you've probably noticed that Chez Sasha has gotten a long-awaited and well-deserved face-lift! The new design is cleaner and sleeker, and alas makes my blog mobile responsive. There are still a few kinks to be worked out, but overall I'd say it's looking pretty sexy. What do you think? I've spent a quite a few long hours configuring the new design, which unfortunately means that Friday Finds is being bypassed for the second week in a row, but no worries - it'll be back next week. Have a great weekend, everyone! . . .
Here we are again, another year has passed. Phew. 2013 was pretty nutty and volatile for me, to tell you the truth. It being my first year as a college grad, I often found myself stressed and worried about my future and wondering if what I'm doing is what I should be doing. As any ambitious college grad, I expected to find my first job quickly and to love it, to move out of my parents' home and become an independent adult. But life rarely turns out as planned, especially when you hold a liberal arts degree, especially in the most competitive city in the world. Although . . .
I am so delighted to present you with my very first giveaway! And what a giveaway it is. One of you lucky readers will win the amazing gift of restaurant dining – a $50 Zagat Dining Card! The Zagat Dining Card is an e-gift card, and it is accepted at over 200 of New York City’s notable restaurants. It is a fabulous way to say happy birthday to a friend, thank you to a colleague, or merry Christmas to that weird aunt you’re not sure you like (but hey, she’s gotta eat too). You can even customize the gift card with a special message or a photograph. And, it doesn’t . . .
At the end of the year, people tend to say things like, "Can you believe another year has gone by?!" and "How time flies!" But I'm not going to express either of those sentiments. 2012 was kind of a big year for me: I reached numerous culinary milestones, started a relationship with the guy of my dreams, completed a summer internship at Gothamist (something I am still so proud to admit to), and even finished college. 2012 was delicious, exciting and at times scary, and I am just about ready to close this chapter of my life and start a new one. To properly say goodbye, . . .
