I’m thrilled to partner with Lillet, one of my favorite French brands, to chat with you about pitcher cocktails and share the recipe for this Lillet-Grapefruit Spritzer. Thank you for supporting the brands that support The New Baguette!
As far as I’m concerned, pitcher cocktails are a must for when you’re having friends over – I mean, who wants to stand there mixing drinks one by one all night? They’re ideal for brunch parties, barbecues, and basically any occasion when you’re entertaining more than one person.
I have only two rules for concocting pitcher cocktails: the first is to choose universally-loved booze and flavors, since presumably all your friends will be drinking it. The second is that the cocktail should be low-octane and easy to drink (that means no Old Fashioned’s, Don Draper), because pitcher cocktails are meant to be sipped all party long; this rule is doubly true if you’re day-drinking.
This Lillet-Grapefruit Spritzer is my go-to pitcher drink. It’s pretty, refreshing, not too sweet, and thus dangerously drinkable, making it perfect for hangouts that seamlessly go from day to night.
